Ice cream, cupcakes and a trip upmarket

Notre Dame is not called Note-er Dayme

Is this really the best icecream ever?

Super cupcakes

Fauchon - for sure.

Notre Dame

Stained Glass

So lets start with Quasimodo - its a great back story.

Oh yeah baby, more where that came from. My favourite punny joke is the Quasimodo needs a break so has to hire another bell ringer joke. Too long to type so click on the link if you don't remember it. Love a good double barrel pun.

The church? Not much to say really. Iconic. Beautiful Gothic. Those stained glass windows. Foreboding. Lovely gardens around it. There was a line to climb the towers - we declined the climb.

Locks mean "I love you"

Its the new meme.

All over Europe (well not "all over", but you know what I mean).

I think I know what a meme is?

Is this one new - is to me but clearly not to most others.

My fave is still the one on the top of the Jungfrau observation deck.

Must add quite a bit of bridge weight.

Sooper dooper ice-cream

Berthilon

Said to be the best icecream in the world. Wasn't there a place in Italy that said the same?

Whatever, choices were made and flavours were purchased.

All were exceptional.

Berthillon menu

DAMN fine ice-cream. Short lines due to heavy rain.

Ree: Mojito

Zoe: Chocolat

Drew: Caramel and Ginger (the winner). Like and icecream ginger biscuit with dulce delece.

Lozza: Roast pineapple and basil (a close second). Zoe liked the taste so much she bought herself a second cup.

Who doesn't love a cupcake

Thank you Bertie's cupcakery.

We enjoyed your wares.

Lovely street just round the corner from Notre Dame.

Lovely owner - American moved to Paris last year.

A winner find.

Lovely street

Give a girl a cupcake!

Not a big store

Fauchon

Pretty sure Fauchon translates from French to English as "if you pay this amount you must be INSANE" or at the very least, somewhat disturbed.

We walked and walked through the ever increasing torrential rain to get to Fauchon (not happy Chubs).

The good bits - ever so cool window dressing, amazing cakes and meats. A bit like the fancy section of Harrodsburg from what I remember.

At least looks like a bit of effort has gone into the making

Vegetarian type options - limited. Ox pancreas on rye? Sure.

The price - extortionate

Yesterday's potato with a bit of cheese on the top

Its a sad comment on human nature that the Fauchan chocolate store across the road on the diagonal is crowded and checked out by tourists and locals alike. The building directly opposite is not really even glimpsed at. Something seems wrong.

The chocolate shop

Directly across the road from the chocolate shop

Soaked and annoyed that chocolate usurps culture, we headed back to the apartment. I think the kids had a hot chocolate (hypocrites).

Cool bath we saw on the way home

Anyone heading in?

Enough
